Hana Hou Swim Co was built on a love for the water and a passion for teaching. With decades of experience as competitive swimmers and instructors, we bring a unique perspective to every lesson ā€” blending swim team fundamentals with a personal touch.

FAQs

  • We offer mobile swim lessons at private pools, vacation rentals, and select hotel locations. To ensure a smooth experience, please confirm pool access with your accommodation before booking. If your hotel has restrictions, we are happy to suggest alternative locations. We love teaching in the ocean and our instructors have great recommendations for safe beaches.

    Currently, we do not offer lessons at public or community pools, as many facilities have their own swim programs and policies.

  • The number of lessons varies depending on your child's current swimming ability and goals. Generally, we recommend starting with a package of 3-5 lessons to build foundational skills and confidence in the water.

    If you are a Hawaiā€™i resident we recommend booking a full week for maximum progress, or once per week to maintain consistency.

    While every child is different, after 3-4 lessons you can expect increased comfort in the water an improvement in skills such as breathing, kicking, treading. Water safety is our main goal, and once that benchmark is reached we work on making the strokes look pretty.

  • Weather-related cancellations will be rescheduled at no extra cost. If the lesson cannot take place due to weather, we will work with you to find a suitable make-up time.

  • We require a 24-hour cancellation notice. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the lesson start time may incur a cancellation fee.

  • Please bring swimsuits, towels, sunscreen, but no goggles or floaties. We will provide any necessary teaching aids.

  • Every child is different, but generally kids succeed with 45 minutes. This is ideal for maintaining focus and energy. Young swimmers may spend time building sandcastles and building trust at the start of lessons.

  • We recommend that parents stay nearby but not too close. Children tend to perform best when they can focus on the instructor without distraction or parent intervention. That said, we encourage parents to stay within earshot in case their child needs comfort or reassurance during the lesson.

  • Yes, we encourage parents to capture special moments!

  • Yes! We offer personalized swim lessons for adults of all skill levels, from beginners to those looking to refine their techniques.

  • Payment is collected upon booking. We accept all major credit cards. You will receive a confirmation and receipt via email.

  • No problem! Since we are a mobile swim school, we come to you. Our instructors love teaching in the ocean and we can recommend a nearby beach.

Policies and Terms of Use

Acceptance of Risk By booking a swim lesson with Hana Hou Swim Co, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with water activities. We are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or loss of property during lessons.

Cancellation Policy Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson will incur a fee of $35. Weather-related cancellations will be rescheduled without penalty. If your hotel prohibits the lesson after booking, we will do our best to accommodate you at an alternative location.

Hotel Pool Access It is the client's responsibility to verify with their hotel that private swim lessons are allowed at their pool. We recommend contacting the front desk before booking. Hana Hou Swim Co is not liable if access is denied on the day of the lesson.

Payments and Refunds Full payment is required at the time of booking. Refund requests must be made within 7 days of the scheduled lesson.

Safety and Supervision For children under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be present at the pool area throughout the lesson. Lessons will not proceed without proper supervision.
